I have been spending time in Exodus, Numbers and Joshua – studying Moses and Joshua. I have been impressed by many things.
One of the things that has struck me is in Joshua 6 when the children of Israel come up against the walled city of Jericho. God gives Joshua some “odd” instructions for how to take the city. (In the margin of my Bible I have actually written “stupid instructions”) What kind of military leader in his right mind would think that he could defeat a walled city by simply marching around the city ?
You know the story – Israel is instructed, by God, to march in silence around the city once a day for six days and on the 7th day to march around the city in silence 6 times and on the 7th time when the trumpets blow then to SHOUT! Who does that? What good will that do?
So, why did God give those “odd” instructions? It seems that with instructions like that, nobody in Israel could ever think that it was by their mighty power and weaponry that they captured Jericho. All credit for that victory had to go to God – there is absolutely no way that their marching brought down the stone walls.
So – God just might nudge us and ask us to do things that just do not make sense. God just might ask us to do things that some would say is “foolishness”. (like taking students backpacking in Europe and not making reservations for places to stay)
God wants us to TRUST HIM. That is what Live 10:27 Ministries is all about. Thank You for investing in this ministry and for trusting in our Great God to provide.
My trip to West Nairobi School for a week of teaching as the Spiritual Emphasis speaker was amazing. Pictures and updates were posted on our Facebook page, Live 10:27 Ministries.
