March 2017

As you know, one aspect of our ministry is to organize and lead backpacking trips in Europe. These trips are designed intentionally to “force” the participants to grow in their love for God and as a result, to grow in their love for people. We choose to use a variety of means the help accomplish these goals.

We always read through a book of the Bible on the trip, as well as a book dealing with spiritual growth. For this year’s trips, we have selected “The Life You’ve Always Wanted” by John Ortberg.

One of the chapters is entitled, “The Unhurried Life: The Practice of Slowing”. He says in this chapter,

“Hurry is the great enemy of spiritual life in our day. Hurry can destroy our souls. We must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from our life.”

Our culture encourages hurry. Resist that pressure. Slow down. Reflect. Enjoy and be thankful.

Set aside some “alone time” with God and SLOW DOWN.
