Last month our focus was on “Thankfulness” –   being “Thankful” and listing things that we are thankful for.   This month builds on that theme – truth.

The Hebrew word Zakar occurs 223 times in the Old Testament.  It is most often translated “REMEMBER”.  That word, “REMEMBER” always infers action, it is not simply “bringing to mind”.  The point of “remembering” things that God has done in the past in NOT just to win on Jeopardy or get an A on an exam, it is to make a difference in how you act in the present and look to the future.

“I shall REMEMBER the deeds of the Lord; surely I will REMEMBER Your wonders of old.  I will meditate on all your work and muse on Your deeds.”   Psalms 77:11-12

Israel ALWAYS got into trouble and slipped into sin when the failed to REMEMBER the deeds and works of God.  When they “forgot” (or failed to REMEMBER) they rebelled against God and sinned against Him.

“Again and again they tempted God, and pained the Holy One of Israel.  They did not REMEMBER His power, the day when He redeemed them from the adversary.”   Psalms 78:42

“They quickly forgot His works, they did not wait for His counsel, but craved intensely in the wilderness; and tempted God in the dessert.”   Psalms 106:13-14

Figure out a system that works for you to help you to REMEMBER the great and mighty works of God.  Figure out a system to help you to NOT forget what God has done in the past.

God wants us to TRUST HIM.  Our TRUST and FAITH in Him grows as we REMEMBER and meditate upon His works and deeds of the past.
